Our Abandoned World

People shirk in unease. Squirm in regret, avert their eyes. The past is too painful to contemplate, and its beauty is not easily seen - especially when it lies in ruin, often caused by the very man who now looks away. What does our past tell about us and our affairs? As for myself, I've always chosen to believe in the well-worn, yet true adage, that whose who forget history are bound to repeat its mistakes. And beyond that, my differently-wired brain has always found beauty in the textures and colors others consider repulsive. If one would only look carefully, the subtle revelations of our abandoned world are easily seen - and they have much to teach us about man's precarious existence.
