The Hidden Pacific Northwest

When urban landscapes change, something inside the human fabric also shifts. Centers of industry and community that once provided a livelihood for thousands disintegrate into thin air, sometimes in a matter of months. Abandoned and left to fester in plain sight, as if to remind all who pass that what once was will never return. Verily, an entire way of life decomposes in the ruins of a town's former engines of industry and sustenance. Though spread all over the United States, caught between shifting tides of confused progress, the orphaned haunts of the Pacific Northwest hold a peculiar allure for the explorer due to the sheer variety of sites gathered in a relative small territory, surrounded by the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the region. From aluminum factories and mines to underground Nike missile sites, this is a Pacific Northwest that we will never see again.
